"Yor are next" says the HR lady, now the moment of reckoning has finally arrived, the culmination of 1/2/3/4 years that you have spent going thru books, attending sessions, taking tests, grooming yourself is now. You check your hair & attire one final time, take a couple of deep breaths but still the tingly feeling inside refuses to seize, you somehow muster all the courage & move towards the door mentally executing the checklist, knock clearly twice, warm smile, firm handshake, appropriate salutation (wooo, what time is it)...
You knock on the door twice (as planned) & almost open the door only to realise that you have not heard any voice from inside, nervous again, you stare at the door thinking of the possible goofup & knowck again, "walk in" someone says. You go in & a distinguished gentelman is on the other side of the table, after having bckoned you in he gets up to say hi. Things are working out fine, he defenitely does not seem displeased to see you. He starts off like a person getting in to a swimming pool after ages of learing the sport, very cautious (testing the waters), upon getting a hang of you he's flapping full throttle but at the same time making sure he does'nt get the technique wrong (which might upset you, who will vent it out on him)...
The interview is finally over & you feel like you've defeated a beast at its game...
you are asked to wait outside for sometime only to be told that, "YOU ARE HIRED"...
The feling is hard to describe in words, animated ecstacy...
Work starts, induction, id tags, personal terminal, b-cards, training, first pay check, hands on work, first intermediate appraisal, half yearly appraisal, your candidature being made permanent, performance based incentives, things seem to be going fine. One fine day you are summoned by the powers that be, you are unsure to say the least...
You are shown the door. literally & figuaratively...
What else can you do, other than put up a futile defence...
"YOU ARE FIRED", the phrase keeps coming back to haunt you again & again relentlessly...
A single letter seperated also by only a single letter, both have the power to alter lives...
HIRED & FIRED

All it takes to get a confident individuals esteem down is altering the first letter, getting it down by two alphabets, the same when done with the support of "G"race will not hurt as much as when it is done without "G"s support...
